You're most welcome Lisa...
As a matter of fact the info we have provided in the articles is already a bit outdated. Sheit, this sport develops really fast.
We'd make sure we update the info in nearest future

Thanks a lot for this information. I've been trying to creat my blog recently. I found some books about it at the search engine [Link] . My friends' advice was of great help, too. But here you paid my attention to quite different but very important details. And you wrote it in a simple way, and it's also a big plus. The information is of great value, indeed.

Hey maximo!
Spearfishing at night is forbidden almost everywhere in Europe. For a good reason too. Most of the fish are inactive at night which makes their hunting quite easy.

DomePort

A new website devoted to Underwater Photography makes it's first dive in the Sea of Web.

DomePort (www.domeport.com) was under development for more than a year and  is quite different from the underwater photography sites you all know. Despite focusing mainly on gear presentation and discussions DomePort is all about the photos! This finally creates a real underwater photography portal!
DomePort offers really wide range of functionalitis. Each user is able to create own portfolio organized in personal albums. Rich set of attributes could be added to each photo,  facilitating not only  their browsing but providing full info to the viewer as well.
The users can vote for and comment the images they like, placing the best photos on the main page.
The DomePort gear database is extremely rich! At the time of the site's debut  the DomePort users can personalize their gear by selecting between 3726 cameras, 1107 lenses,  843 housings and 66 strobe models!

As a full featured portal, DomePort also provides news and articles, while its users can discuss whatever they want at the DomePort Forums.
And this is just the Ver. 1.0.0.0 set of functionalites! The designers, who's first project is widely known as..... Spearfish!, are continuing to develop DomePort with the DomePort Challenges soon to be launched.

Whether DomePort would be able to finally fill the portal gap depends on you!

Feel free to visit and register at www.domeport.com

Joseba Querejeta is the new World Spearfishing Champion
Wishbone , Sunday 26 October 2008 - 19:37:34 // comment: 15, Trackbacks:   |  email to someone   |  printer friendly  |

2008 World CupThe Spaniard Joseba Querejeta took the title World Spearfishng Champion!
The ХХVІ CMAS World Spearfishing Championship took place in two competition days in Venezuela - on the Island of Margarita. The event was officially launched on 20th of October with 80 registered participants from Australia, Brazil, Columbia, Croatia, Chile, Spain, Finland, France,  United Kingdom, Greece, Italy, New Zealand, Peru, Portugal, Russia, South Africa, Tahiti, Turkey, Ukraine and Venezuela. As expected Bulgaria did not participate at the Worlds, despite the fact the country earned a participation quota.

The Spaniards dominated completely during the first competition day on the Los Frailes archipelago - Joseba Querejeta on the top position, (30,010 p.), Juan Fuentes on 2nd place (29,230 p.) and Pedro Carbonell on third (25,525p). Fourth was the Greek deep hunting master Ioannis Sideris with 22,085 p. Surprisingly left behind are the Chileans and in the standings by nation Spain is on the first place, followed by Croatia and Italy on third.

During competition day 2 Joseba Querejeta retained his leadership and is now the new World Spearfishing Champion (181,705 p.)! Ioannis Sideris of Greece is second (166,667 p.) and on third - the great Pedro Carbonell (154,729 p.) who announced the end of his competitive career. Much interesting is the fact that the Southafrican Jaco Blignaut got disqualified during the first competition day for carrying catch on the belt.  Otherwise Jaco would have taken the Sideris second place on the podium - only with his result from the 2nd day the Southafrican got the 14th place!
The 2004 World Champion Stefano Bellani remained at the disappointing seventeenth position. The 2006 champion - the Chilean Saez - did not participate in the event.

By nations: the New World Champion is Spain, followed by Italy who managed to displace Croatia on third.

Photos from World Spearfishing Championship can be seen at the official website of the event.

Edit: Final standings

Wishbone , Sunday 18 May 2008 - 10:48:24 // comment: 18, Trackbacks:   |  email to someone   |  printer friendly  |

The Black Sea UnderwaterThe top Bulgarian underwater photographer and a great friend to Spearfish! Lyubomir Klissurov (lklissurov) issued a long awaited photo-book "Black Sea Underwater"!

The unique edition for the local photrography has a great volume of 232 pages and contains 248 photographs! The images capture more than 90 representatives of the Black Sea flora and fauna and are the fruits of 35 years of hard work devoted to the sea! The readers will be captivated by Lyubomir Klissurov's lively descriptions of the adventures surrounding the creation of some of the photographs, as well by the professional observations of the author of the behaviour of the sea creatures.

An excellent opinion about the book provides the  great Bulgarian photographer Ivo Hadjimishev:

"Through the eyes of the great master of the underwater photography Lyubomir Klissurov we, the dry land creatures, enjoy the rare fortune to be able to touch the magical world of the Sea.
Through the magnificent images he creates, the author provides us with a friendly access to his own kingdom where only the strong and the brave dare to enter, and generously shares the joy of all the beauty that remains hidden for the ordinary folk.
The great professional skills combining scientific knowledge and delicate insight of an artist, place Lyubomr Klissurov high up in the ranks of the world's greatest underwater photographers. "

Congratulations to Lyubomir Klissurov on behalf of all members of this website! "Black Sea Underwater" will take a well deserved central place in the library of every diver!

"Blak Sea Underwater" will be offered in two versions - Bulgarian and English. The price of the English edition will be 43 Euro.
